In the heart of Palma de Mallorca, Spain, the 15th Real Estate Development Summit Saudi Arabia Europe Edition organised and brought to you by GBB Venture unfolded as a resounding success. As the media partner, representing Saudi Projects, I had the privilege of attending this prestigious event, which was held on July 4th and 5th at the Palau de Congressos. The summit, themed ‘Connecting Beyond Boundaries,’ brought together over 350 decision-makers from Saudi Arabia and around the globe.
Day one
Keynote Session Enjoyable Architecture
The summit kicked off with legendary Sir Peter Cook, Director of Cook Belacevic Haffner + Partners, setting the stage with his keynote on Enjoyable Architecture. Sir Peter’s visionary perspective on how architecture can enhance user experiences and well-being resonated with the audience. His emphasis on creativity and innovation in design provided valuable insights into the future of the real estate industry.

An exclusive interview session between Reina Takla, Business Editor of Arab News, and Elias Abou Samra shed light on the burgeoning real estate market in Saudi Arabia. Abou Samra discussed the factors that make it an attractive destination for investors and developers, providing strategies to make real estate in Saudi Arabia more accessible and affordable.
“Saudi Arabia is at a pivotal moment in its real estate journey. The market is ripe with opportunities, but it requires innovative solutions to make it truly accessible and affordable for all,” Elias Abou Samra emphasized.
Technology and Design Innovations
Mohammed Adib, Chief Design Officer of Dewan Architects + Engineers, shared insights on the integration of AI and VR in BIM Design Processes. Adib’s presentation highlighted the transformative potential of technology in architectural design, discussing how these tools are revolutionizing the way projects are conceptualized, visualized, and executed.
“The integration of AI and VR in BIM is not just a trend; it’s a necessity. These technologies are redefining what’s possible in architectural design,” Mohammed Adib stated.

The post-lunch session featured a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Setting Saudi Beyond Competing Boundaries,” led by Joe Tabet, Managing Partner of JT + Partners. The panel, which included Amr Younes, Dr. Ahmed Khan Alhashimi, Navdeep Hanjra, and Tareq Nabulsi, explored the facets of real estate development in Saudi Arabia and its potential in the region.
“Saudi Arabia’s real estate market is on the cusp of unprecedented growth. The opportunities here are not just regional; they are global,” Joe Tabet remarked.
Gala Dinner
The gala dinner at Assaona Gastrobeach Club was a memorable event with delicious food, drinks, live music, and dancing. It provided a relaxed setting for attendees to network and enjoy an evening of entertainment.
The gala dinner was a fantastic way to unwind and connect with fellow attendees. It was a perfect end to a productive day.
Day two
Panel Discussion – Procurement Beyond Boundaries
The second day of the summit began with a panel discussion on “Procurement Beyond Boundaries,” led by Maroun Deeb of JLL. The panel, which included Jacob Rinard, Eng. Bakr Sindi, Sam Achampong, and Fadi Yanni, addressed critical aspects of procurement and supply chain management in the real estate and construction industry.
“Efficient procurement and supply chain management are the backbones of successful real estate development. This panel provided invaluable insights into how we can optimize these processes,” Eng. Bakr Sindi noted.

Edward McIntosh of Atkins Realis and William McDonough of McDonough Innovation, despite their absence, made digital appearances to showcase their work on the Iris project and the Cradle to Cradle design concept.
“Design is at the forefront of innovation in our industry. The presentations today pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in architectural design,” Jason Speechly observed.
Concluding Networking Session
The summit concluded with a creative networking session, allowing attendees to connect and exchange ideas in a more relaxed setting. The networking session was a great opportunity to meet new people and discuss potential collaborations. It was a fitting end to an inspiring summit.
