One of the biggest projects of its kind in the world, Riyadh Metro, currently under construction, is set to be a rapid transit system that will cover an area of 109 miles and run across the desert, according to Railway Technology.
This $22 billion project, which will comprise a metro network, in addition to a bus network and other transport services, will have six lines and 85 stations, helping to transform Riyadh into an international business hub and improving its image on a global scale.

The project has faced many challenges, including harsh weather conditions and the unavailability of materials, but despite this, it is still expected to open in 2025.
