Hoffmann Green Cement Technologies has announced the commencement of construction on H-KSA 1, its first unit in Saudi Arabia. The company specializes in designing, producing, and distributing low-carbon cement products. The foundation stone for the Rabigh site has been laid, following the signing of a licensing agreement last year with the Saudi-based Shurfah Group.
This 22-year agreement will see the establishment of four Hoffmann Green Cement units in the Kingdom, aiming to support the decarbonization efforts of the domestic construction sector. In alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan, Shurfah Group will finance, construct, and operate multiple Hoffmann Green Cement production units.
Hoffmann Green Cement co-founders Julien Blanchard and David Hoffmann stated: “The laying of the foundation stone is a symbolic moment in any construction project. We are very proud to have reached this first milestone with our partner Shurfah, on schedule. Less than a year after signing the licensing agreement, the start of construction of H-KSA 1 marks our international deployment in support of the Kingdom’s ambitious ‘Vision 2030’ project.”

Shurfah Holding Company founder and chair Abdullah Al Majed said: “Decarbonising our ‘smart cities’ is a major challenge for Shurfah Holding and, more broadly, for Saudi Arabia. This partnership with Hoffmann Green is a natural fit with the Vision 2030 plan, which strives to contribute to the sustainable development of the Saudi economy.”
Furthermore, Shurfah Group will exclusively commercialize Hoffmann Green Cement’s decarbonized cement products throughout the country. The construction of the initial factory is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2025.
