Construction has commenced on the 400-meter-tall, cube-shaped Mukaab skyscraper in Riyadh, designed by AtkinsRéalis, which is set to become the world’s largest building upon completion. Positioned as the focal point of the expansive 19-square-kilometer New Murabba development in northwest Riyadh, Mukaab has officially entered the construction phase, with excavations well underway according to its developer.
The New Murabba Development Company, funded by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), announced that site groundwork is already 86% complete. The cube-shaped skyscraper will feature 400-meter edges and reach a height of 400 meters, qualifying it as a supertall structure and making it the tallest in Riyadh.
Expected to surpass the Boeing Everett Factory in the United States as the world’s largest building
Expected to surpass the Boeing Everett Factory in the United States as the world’s largest building, Mukaab’s colossal structure will house a vast, nearly full-height atrium with a central spiraling tower, surrounded by two million square meters of retail space, cultural venues, and tourist attractions. Its unique facade of overlapping triangular patterns will reflect the modern Najdi architectural style.
When finished, Mukaab will anchor the New Murabba development, envisioned as a vibrant new downtown hub for Saudi Arabia’s capital city.
