URTIM’s Special Scaffolding Solution Powers World’s Largest Floating LNG Tank Project.
URTIM’s signature appears on the world’s largest floating LNG tank project, which is the size of six football fields and weighs 480 thousand tons. With the hybrid scaffolding system specially developed for the project, URTIM engineering once again demonstrated its strength in global competition.
As a global brand in the formwork and scaffolding industry, URTIM stands out with its prestigious projects carried out around the world. In the LNG tank project, URTIM became a solution partner with 121 steel legs and a specially developed hybrid scaffolding system.

Constructed for the first time in the world and weighing 480,000 tons, the project stands as the largest floating LNG tank in the industry and also a source of pride for URTIM’s engineering.
In the reinforced concrete construction of the giant structure, which covers an area of 72,625 m², an extraordinary engineering success was achieved with dimensions of 330 meters in depth, 153 meters in width, and 151 meters in height. The foundation of this massive structure consists of 121 steel legs, each with a load capacity ranging from 55 to 200 tons.

The hybrid scaffolding system developed by URTIM made a difference in the most critical stages of the project. Thanks to the system, membrane application could begin on the same structure without dismantling the scaffolding after the first concrete casting was completed. Thus, significant savings were achieved in terms of cost, labor, and time
URTIM’s heavy-duty scaffolds, stair towers, and auxiliary lifting systems were also actively used in the project. The hybrid system, which is the result of a three-year intensive R&D process, was developed by URTIM.
With this project, URTIM once again proved not only its leadership in the formwork and scaffolding sector but also the global competitiveness of URTIM engineering.
Serdar Urfalılar, Chairman of the Board of URTIM Formwork and Scaffolding Systems Inc., shared both the company’s role in this giant project in the Arctic region and its growth journey: “In 46 years, we have successfully completed more than 4,000 projects across 6 continents and 70 countries.”
URTIM’s solutions are preferred in a wide range of fields such as high-rise buildings, shipyards, refineries, industrial facilities, bridges and viaducts, airports, sports, and healthcare facilities.
