The 105,000m2 first phase of Al Mishraq, at the heart of Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Nonprofit City, has begun construction. With a total area of 680,000m2, Al Mishraq will be the City’s second largest zone.
There will be retail, residential, incubator, and office space in the first phase, as well as an eight-screen, 900-seat cinema and 1,500 underground smart parking spaces. The latter will be linked to the City’s mobile app, allowing drivers to find the nearest available parking space.

David Henry, CEO of Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Nonprofit City, explained: “Al Mishraq lies at the heart of the City. It will be a laboratory for innovation and creativity, inspiring residents, visitors and businesses. The development of Al Mishraq will align with the wider goals of the City, embodying sustainability and smart technology, while nurturing future young Saudi leaders.”
The development, designed by renowned architectural firm CallisonRTKL, embodies contemporary Salmani architecture and is modeled as an outdoor ecosystem that is human-centered and meets everyone’s needs.
The Central Spine, a distinctive shaded pedestrian zone that incorporates the latest environmentally conscious shading and cooling technologies, including a series of cooling wind towers, will be an iconic element of Al Mishraq.
Al Mishraq’s rich and diverse environment will encourage international partnerships and cross-collaboration of services and products
From food through to entertainment, Al Mishraq will set new levels of originality and stimulation. The development of creative institutes and the display of artwork in public spaces, for instance, will cultivate the creative arts scene. Artists will be encouraged to exhibit their work, providing visitors and residents with unique experiences in art, design, and visual innovations.
Manga Productions, a subsidiary of the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation (Misk), which produces animations, video games and comics, has also announced that its new headquarters will be located in Al Mishraq.
Al Mishraq’s rich and diverse environment will encourage international partnerships and cross-collaboration of services and products, allowing for the development of human capital, a thriving knowledge economy, and the empowerment and engagement of young Saudi talent. By allowing people to meet, communicate, think and innovate, Al Mishraq will incubate, showcase and bring new ideas to market.
