As part of the fourth phase of the National Renewable Energy Program, the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) intends to float five new renewable energy projects throughout the Kingdom with a combined capacity of 3,300 MW.
According to SPPC, the project’s principal buyer, three of these projects will use wind energy to generate power and the other two will use solar energy.
Once up and running, the overall production from the wind energy projects will reach 1,800MW (Yanbu facility output at 700MW, the Al Ghat plant at 600MW and Waad Al Shamal at 500MW), whilst the total production from solar projects will achieve 1,500MW, distributed through its Al Henakiyah (1,100MW) and Tubarjal (400MW) projects.

In an effort to realize the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030, this initiative is designed to assist the Kingdom in reaching its Net Zero target through the best energy mix of renewable energy resources and gas, with 50% for each of them, and replacing the fuel needed to produce electricity by 2030.
