URTIM Supports Landmark Türkiye Petrochemical Project

Formwork and scaffolding solutions power major DAPEK investment in Ceyhan.

As one of Türkiye’s major strategic industrial investments, the DAPEK development in Ceyhan, Adana, is strengthening the country’s petrochemical and industrial infrastructure.

At the heart of the development is the approximately USD 1.8 billion Ceyhan Polypropylene Production Plant, developed by Rönesans Holding and Sonatrach. The integrated PDH (Propane Dehydrogenation) and PP (Polypropylene) facility is designed to convert propane into propylene and subsequently into polypropylene, with an annual production capacity of 472,500 tonnes, corresponding to approximately 17% of Türkiye’s polypropylene demand. The project ranks among the largest private-sector industrial investments ever undertaken in Türkiye.

For a facility of this scale and technical complexity, the construction process requires formwork and scaffolding solutions capable of adapting to different structural geometries, elevations, loads, access conditions, and construction sequences.

Tailored Engineering for Complex Industrial Structures

For the Ceyhan PDH/PP Project, URTIM provided engineered formwork and scaffolding solutions from design and engineering through to on-site implementation.

The entire engineering process was managed by URTIM’s in-house technical team, with project-specific solutions developed for the individual requirements of each structure.

The formwork scope covered a wide range of applications, including reactor and heater units, high-rise and multi-level columns, large shear-wall structures, reinforced-concrete buildings, restricted-access areas, and tanks and structures with complex geometries.

Each system configuration was designed according to the specific structural geometry, working height, load requirements, access conditions, construction sequence, and site constraints of the relevant area.

This approach enabled URTIM to move beyond standardized applications and provide formwork solutions specifically engineered for the conditions of each structure.

Integrated Scaffolding Solutions

In addition to formwork systems, URTIM provided scaffolding solutions for vertical access, heavy-duty applications, working platforms, high-level access, and pipeline installation activities.

By integrating formwork and scaffolding under a single engineering approach, URTIM supported more coordinated construction activities across the site while addressing the access, load-bearing, safety, and operational requirements of different construction disciplines.

The ability to adapt both systems to changing site conditions was particularly important in areas involving high elevations, heavy loads, confined spaces, complex geometries, and restricted access.

Meeting International EPC Standards

The project was executed under the oversight of internationally recognized EPC organizations, including Wood Plc and Técnicas Reunidas, together with Rönesans Holding’s project and HSE teams.

URTIM’s systems and engineering capabilities were evaluated against demanding international project requirements, including technical suitability, installation and dismantling efficiency, ease of use, occupational health and safety, quality, and site performance.

Successfully meeting these requirements demonstrates URTİM’s capability to deliver engineered temporary works solutions for complex petrochemical and industrial projects operating under international EPC standards.

46 Years of Engineering Experience

With 46 years of experience, more than 4,000 completed projects across 72 countries, and an export ratio of approximately 80%, URTİM combines local manufacturing capabilities with international engineering expertise.

Sergin Urfalilar, Deputy General Manager, Head of R&D and Engineering, informed all teams about URTIM’s systems and engineering capabilities. These capabilities were evaluated accordingly to the demanding requirements of international projects, including technical suitability, installation and dismantling efficiency, ease of use, occupational health and safety, quality, and overall site performance.

The Ceyhan PDH/PP Project represents another example of URTİM’s ability to combine engineering, manufacturing, and on-site expertise to provide project-specific formwork and scaffolding solutions for strategically important industrial investments.
