NAVYA, a leader in the field of autonomous mobility systems, has announced that it has signed up to support the implementation of autonomous vehicles in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This took place at the French Ministry of Transport in Paris, in an agreement with the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The initiatives involve the deployment of self-driving electric and shared shuttles for people transportation, as well as the deployment of electric tow tractors for goods transport at airports and industrial sites.

The agreement seeks to carry out pilot projects, validate use-cases, define regulations, and develop local competencies in order to prepare for and accelerate the large-scale deployment of fleets of level 4 autonomous vehicles across the Arabian Peninsula. It will assist the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is already a forerunner in smart cities, in becoming one of the first markets in the world to deploy significant shuttle fleets.
The carbon-free shared fleets will play an essential role in the building of cities of the future, in accordance with Vision 2030, providing clean air and a better quality of life.

In the GCC countries, NAVYA already has a 75% share of the autonomous mobility market, with six shuttles in service in Saudi Arabia. With 200 shuttles sold worldwide, this significantly contributes to the company’s global leadership position.
The final agreement, combined with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s backing, will enable NAVYA to advance its research and development by creating new first and last-mile use cases in town centers, smart cities, airports, amusement parks, and industrial locations.
