Seasoned Leader to Spearhead AlUla’s Cultural and Economic Transformation.
The Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has officially appointed Abeer bint Mohammed AlAkel as the Chief Executive Officer of the commission. This decision, announced recently, follows her tenure as Acting CEO since January 2024.

Abeer has been an integral part of RCU since its inception in 2017, holding pivotal roles such as Chief of Special Initiatives and Partnerships. Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing AlUla’s transformation into a global destination celebrated for its rich culture, heritage, and natural beauty.
Before joining RCU, Abeer amassed substantial experience in both the public and private sectors. She served as Director of the Productivity Department at SABB and as a Senior Manager at PwC, where she led various strategic and operational projects.
Educationally, Abeer holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from King Saud University and has completed the leadership development program at Harvard University, equipping her with a robust foundation in technology and executive leadership.
