CEER UNVEILS SAUDI-BUILT FLAGSHIP EVS

Exobot sedan and SUV accelerate Saudi Arabia’s ambitions for a globally competitive automotive industry.

Saudi Arabia’s automotive ambitions have moved into a new phase with the unveiling of CEER’s first flagship electric vehicles, EXOBOT sedan and SUV.

The launch represents more than the arrival of a new vehicle brand. It marks an important milestone in the Kingdom’s drive to establish a sophisticated domestic automotive industry, develop advanced manufacturing capabilities and create a broader ecosystem spanning technology, engineering, components, logistics and mobility.

The vehicles were unveiled in Riyadh by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

For Saudi Arabia, the occasion demonstrates how investment in automotive manufacturing is being used to support wider economic diversification objectives under Saudi Vision 2030.

From national ambition to production

Established by PIF in 2022, CEER is Saudi Arabia’s first homegrown automotive brand. The company was created to develop vehicles designed for the region while building local manufacturing capabilities and attracting investment across the automotive value chain.

EXOBOT sedan and SUV are the first two models in a planned portfolio of seven vehicles expected to launch over the next five years.

Designed and engineered in Saudi Arabia, the vehicles combine advanced automotive technology with design elements inspired by the Kingdom’s landscape and culture. The company says the models have been developed to meet global standards while reflecting a distinctly Saudi identity.

The launch therefore provides a tangible representation of the Kingdom’s ambition to move beyond being a consumer market for international automotive brands and establish itself as a producer and technology hub.

A new manufacturing powerhouse

Production of CEER vehicles will take place at the CEER Manufacturing Complex (CMC), located within the King Salman Automotive Cluster at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).

The facility is positioned as a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s emerging automotive manufacturing infrastructure. Its development is expected to support vehicle production while helping create demand for local suppliers, engineering services, technology providers and specialist skills.

The wider King Salman Automotive Cluster is designed to bring together vehicle manufacturers, component suppliers and other companies supporting the automotive value chain.

PIF has positioned the cluster as a major industrial platform, with CEER and Lucid already forming part of the ecosystem alongside planned investments involving Hyundai Motor Company and Pirelli.

The objective is to create an integrated automotive environment in which manufacturing, supply chains, technology and talent development can grow together.

Marking this occasion, His Royal Highness said:  “The launch of CEER’s first vehicles represents another step forward in Saudi Arabia’s progression to build a sustainable and prosperous industrial ecosystem. It further enables the automotive sector as a key driver of economic growth, through attracting investments, empowering national talent, and expanding the private sector’s role to further position Saudi Arabia to become a leading regional and global hub for this industry.”

Building the supply chain

The significance of CEER extends well beyond vehicle assembly.

Developing a competitive automotive industry requires an extensive network of suppliers and specialist companies, from components and materials to software, electronics, engineering and manufacturing equipment.

CEER has already established relationships with a range of international technology and automotive companies, supporting the development of its manufacturing capabilities and supply chain.

These partnerships also have the potential to support knowledge transfer and help develop local expertise, creating opportunities for Saudi companies to participate in an increasingly sophisticated industrial ecosystem.

The company’s workforce has also expanded substantially since its establishment, combining Saudi professionals with international automotive expertise.

This development reflects one of the broader objectives behind the Kingdom’s industrial strategy: creating high-value employment and developing national capabilities in sectors that require specialist technical and engineering skills.

Economic impact

PIF expects CEER to contribute more than SAR30 billion to Saudi Arabia’s GDP and improve the Kingdom’s trade balance by approximately SAR80 billion by 2034.

The company is also expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities, adding another dimension to the economic impact of the project.

Beyond these headline figures, the development of an automotive industry could stimulate activity across numerous connected sectors.

Battery technology, charging infrastructure, industrial automation, software development, logistics, maintenance, recycling and advanced materials are among the areas that can benefit from the emergence of a stronger domestic EV ecosystem.

For contractors, suppliers, consultants and technology companies, this creates a growing market extending beyond the manufacture of the vehicles themselves.

Accelerating the EV transition

The launch of EXOBOT also comes as electric mobility becomes an increasingly important component of Saudi Arabia’s wider transportation strategy.

PIF has invested across several areas of the mobility ecosystem, including electric vehicle manufacturing, charging infrastructure, automotive components and related technologies.

CEER adds a Saudi-owned automotive brand to this developing landscape.

Its future success will therefore be closely connected to the development of the supporting infrastructure and supply chain needed for electric mobility to expand at scale.

A Saudi brand with global ambitions

The unveiling of EXOBOT provides a visible symbol of how Saudi Arabia is seeking to transform its industrial base.

What began with the creation of CEER in 2022 has progressed toward vehicle production, manufacturing infrastructure, international partnerships and a growing specialist workforce.

The planned introduction of five additional models over the next five years will further test the company’s ability to scale production, develop its supply chain and establish a recognizable automotive brand.

For Saudi Arabia, however, the significance extends beyond any individual vehicle.

CEER forms part of a much larger industrial transformation in which advanced manufacturing, investment, technology and national talent are being brought together to create new economic opportunities.

With EXOBOT now unveiled, the Kingdom’s automotive journey has entered its next chapter.
