Engr. Mohammed Al Azem, Vice-Chairman of the Civil & Electrical Projects Contracting Company (CEPCO) has signed a contract agreement on behalf of the company with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). This will be CEPCO’s first strategic venture in terms of complete Engineering Design, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of a Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM), which it will carry out along with the extension of the substation.
The first 33kV STATCOM tender floated by SEC to Saudi EPC companies, the contract takes in the following projects:
- Installation of Mobile STATCOM at Uglat Al Sqoor S/S # 8806 and Miskah S/S # 8804
- Installation of Mobile STATCOM at Taimah 132 kV SS
- Installation of Mobile STATCOM at Madinah, Yanbu and Taif SS
This is the first 33kV STATCOM tender floated by SEC to Saudi EPC companies
The major equipment/material in this project includes 20MVAR, 33kV and 13.8kV Mobile STATCOM, 33kV and 13.8kV MV Switchgear, Grounding Transformer, Auxiliary, RMUs, Control Relay Protection System, SCADA/SOE/DSM/TFR, Telecommunication, Civil Works, ACDC and DCDB System, Fire Fighting, HVAC, and Basic Cyber Security.
The work is scheduled for completion within 16 months.
