The Opera House, which will be sited close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of At Turaif in Diriyah, will be built by Diriyah Company and operated by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC). To be known as the Royal Diriyah Opera House, this new cultural highlight is to be designed by the world-leading Norwegian architectural firm, Snøhetta. Riyadh-based Syn Architects has also contributed to the design, permeating the project with local expertise and a deep understanding of the region’s architectural heritage.
Evidence of the Kingdom’s commitment to celebrating its rich culture and heritage, the Royal Diriyah Opera House will be a key component of the second phase of the Diriyah masterplan and, cognizant of Najdi-style architecture, will be distinguished by intricate details and a mudbrick-inspired construction method. The design language used for this project leads the way for a dazzling future of culture-driven developments in Diriyah, anchored on the city’s rich historical legacy.
