Doosan Enerbility, a leading provider of energy solutions, has announced that it has won a $114 million contract to supply equipment for the largest combined-cycle power plant project in Saudi Arabia.
Under the terms of the agreement, the company will provide two 650MW steam turbines and generators, with a total capacity of 3,600MW, for the Qassim 1 and Taiba 1 power facilities. By 2027, the plants—which are situated 200 kilometers northwest of Riyadh and 200 kilometers north of Jeddah—should be up and running. A group led by ACWA Power and Saudi Electricity Company is developing the projects.

The agreement was reportedly made with China’s Sepco-3, which is in charge of the design, acquisition, and building of the power plants.
According to reports, Doosan Enerbility has set its sights on the Middle Eastern power plant industry, where new projects with a total capacity of 15GW are anticipated to be built over the next five years. The company’s most well-known products are generators and gas and steam turbines for use in gas-fired power plants.
