The UAE is no longer the regional leader when it comes to building hotels, with Saudi Arabia now having almost double the number of hotel rooms being built. Only China (299,458 rooms under construction) and the United States (154,284 rooms under construction) are now building more hotel rooms than Saudi Arabia.
With 42,033 being built at the present time, Saudi Arabia leads the UAE by a considerable margin, with the latter having 22,324 rooms currently under construction.
As of March 2023, the MEA region had more than 119,500 hotel rooms under construction, a 5.8% decrease from the previous year.

Despite a decrease in construction, the MEA hotel pipeline remains solid, with just under 250,000 hotel rooms under contract, incorporating 119,505 in construction, 45,529 in the final planning stage, and 84,116 in the planning stage.
