The National Housing Company (NHC) has signed a cooperation agreement with CITIC Construction, a major Chinese building enterprise. The alliance plans to construct an industrial city and dedicated logistics zones for building materials in Saudi Arabia, including 12 new facilities. The collaboration aims to secure and stabilize the supply chains required for NHC’s residential projects, assuring timely and high-quality completion.
According to NHC, this project will include 12 large construction material plants and depend on China’s extensive manufacturing knowledge. The move is expected to boost the local industry by integrating several local factories and raising operating criteria to reach international standards.

NHC’s partnership with CITIC Construction aims to improve the quality and efficiency of residential projects while also promoting national construction sector transformation, with the facilities being deliberately designed to help Chinese firms localize the Saudi building materials sector.

This will provide growth opportunities for medium and small local industries, enable direct production lines for NHC’s projects, and stimulate further development in the local building materials industry, resulting in more job opportunities. The project also corresponds with the broader strategic cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China, which was reaffirmed during the Chinese President’s visit to Saudi Arabia in December 2022. This agreement includes an action plan that expands on the two countries’ prior memorandum of cooperation in the housing sector to improve the quality of housing units and overall construction standards.
