Dream of the Desert, Saudi Arabia’s first luxury train service, is now in production and, by the end of 2025, is expected to be carrying passengers throughout the breathtaking interior of the Kingdom.
Manufactured in Italy by hospitality company Arsenale Group and commissioned by Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) in a $53.33 million deal, the 40-cabin train will run on 800 miles of existing railway lines from Riyadh to Al Qurayyat in the northern province of Al Jawf. The proposed one to two-day itinerary will take in Al Qassim, Hail, and Al Jouf, on the edge of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Nature Reserve, before it terminates approximately 20 miles from the border with Jordan.

SAR CEO Bashar bin Khalid Al-Malik explained that the service will allow Saudis and tourists to explore more of the Kingdom in railway carriages that, while built in Italy, will be fully customized and inspired by Saudi style and tradition.
