Dr Ahmed Qattan, Deputy Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing for regulating city operators, revealed that the first phase of issuing professional licenses for 16 professions would begin in early 2022.
The ministry will begin issuing the first professional certificate for workers in establishments under the jurisdiction of municipalities within two months, he said, adding that this will be applicable to more than 72 branch professions that fall under the 16 main professions.

Initially, obtaining a professional license for at least one worker in the targeted establishment will be required for it to renew the municipal licenses of all its employees.
Qattan emphasized that the ministry wanted to implement the new rule without causing any problems for private sector establishments or interfering with their operations.
