The Qassim-Madinah power interconnection project has been successfully completed, the Saudi Electricity Project Development Company has announced. The company is a subsidiary of the SEC.
The project entailed the construction of an overhead transmission line, with a capacity of 380kv and a length of 420 kilometers, between the Madinah and Qassim regions. It also included the expansion of the main substations in the Madinah and Qassim regions. These will allow the network to exchange electric power flexibly and smoothly. The project will significantly increase the capacity of reciprocal power in the two regions.
The Qassim-Madinah power interconnection project is a part of SEC’s strategy, which aims to enhance the reliability of electrical services in the Kingdom.

The CEO Engineer of the Saudi Electricity Projects Development Company, Mahdi Al Dosary, said that the project will boost the electric connection, particularly between the western and central areas. He noted that the project will also allow for an exchange of the energy produced in the two areas.
Commenting further, Mahdi Al Dosary explained that the project will activate the communication systems such as the booster, which will contribute to supporting the stability of the electric network. In addition, it will raise the reliability and enhance the utilization of high-efficiency generation units.
