Red Sea Global’s Classic Sailing Cup Concludes with Spotlight On Amaala’s Rising Role.
Red Sea Global (RSG) has closed out the second edition of the Red Sea Classic Sailing Cup, wrapping two days of heritage sailing, local celebration, and nautical passion at Turtle Bay on 28 November 2025. The event, held at The Red Sea destination, transformed the shoreline into a community festival and also underscored the importance of the company’s next-generation luxury destination AMAALA.
Ninety-five local sailors compete
Under the “Set Sail” theme a tribute to the region’s ancestral ties to the sea and RSG invited participation from local communities, blending sporting competition with cultural heritage. Fourteen traditional dhows entered the main race, alongside five youth boats, with a total of 95 sailors competing. The atmosphere was festive, with families and residents gathering to enjoy music from traditional folk bands, local crafts, and the joyful energy of a heritage carnival.

Reflecting on the event’s success, RSG’s Chief Administrative Officer, Ahmad Ghazi Darwish, commented: “We are proud to conclude an exceptional edition of this race, which has become an annual icon through which we celebrate the eternal bond connecting the people of this region to the sea.”
He added that the strong media turnout and active public engagement confirm that The Red Sea destination is gaining recognition as “a platform for marine sports.”
Looking ahead, the event and its growing popularity tie directly into RSG’s broader vision for AMAALA. Since its unveiling in November 2025, AMAALA has been described as a “coastal lifestyle destination” blending luxury, wellness, and environmental stewardship.
AMAALA will debut six world-class resorts, a yacht club, a marine-life institute, and seaside promenades, the Classic Sailing Cup serves as a living showcase of the Red Sea region’s cultural roots.
Heritage carnival meets marine sports
More than a sporting event, the Cup highlighted how traditional maritime heritage can find renewed expression within modern tourism frameworks. As AMAALA gets ready to welcome global visitors, RSG’s sailing festival sets the tone by promising that luxury will come hand-in-hand with authenticity, community, and respect for heritage.
By combining heritage-driven events with high-end destination development, RSG continues to demonstrate that sustainable tourism in Saudi Arabia can celebrate culture, empower communities, and position the Kingdom as a top global destination.
