A new partnership between SRJ Sports Investments, which is wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and the US-based Professional Fighters League (PFL), has the potential to grow the sport dramatically in the Middle East.
Under the terms of the deal, SRJ Sports Investments will acquire a minority stake in the mixed martial arts league and, although the exact financial figures have not been disclosed, it is believed that the investment is at least $100 million.
PFL founder and Chairman Donn Davis explained the league approached the PIF in the summer of 2022, saying: “We saw them as probably one of the very best sports and global investors possible to fuel our next stage of growth,” adding that “the biggest events in mixed martial arts are starting to be held in the Middle East.”
