The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has announced that the RFP for the Ras Mohaisen – Baha – Makkah Independent Water Transmission Pipeline Project (IWTP) has been issued to qualified bidders. 19 bidders were pre-qualified to submit a bid for the project, SWPC had previously said.
A 300 km long water transmission pipeline with a daily capacity of 185,000m3 is being built and, as per the earlier notification, SWPC has said that it will carry out a competitive process to select a developer or developer consortium to develop the project on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.

The company developing the project will provide the entire transmission capacity to SWPC under a Water Transmission Agreement (WTA), which is slated to last up to 35 years.
The Ministry of Finance will enter into a credit support agreement on behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support SWPC’s obligations under the WTA.
