The Illuminated River is the world’s largest public art project in terms of length; a legacy project which will involve illuminating 20 of Central London’s bridges along the River Thames. After a public competition to find the world’s leading lighting artists, the Rothschild foundation next sought a Digital Partner to help communicate the designs of the competition winner and globally renowned artist, Leo Villareal.
Our initial scope was to create a visualization for each bridge. This proved very successful in terms of a communication tool and went on to suggest the creation of an application and a series of animated sequences, which were used to engage and inform members of the public about the project.
This application was effectively deployed both in planning meetings with local councils and as part of a display at major London stations, such as Kings Cross in 2019, helping the project secure unprecedented amounts of national & international press.
