Chinese solar developer JinkoPower has inked a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) for the 400MW Tabarjal solar PV project. The project’s electricity will be purchased by SPPC under a 25-year PPA. Next year will see the start of the project’s construction, which will make use of bifacial solar modules.
“This award underpins our commitment to Saudi Arabia’s renewable energy roadmap and I look forward to the successful development and construction of this portfolio of projects. We are looking for future pipeline projects given their massive potential, as well as alignment towards decarbonization and renewable energy generation in the country,” said Charles Bai, President of International Business at JinkoPower.

The project is situated in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Jouf Province, some 17 km northeast of the city of Tabarjal.
Furthermore, in January of this year, JinkoPower reached financial close and started construction on the Saad solar PV project, located nearby the town of Saad, which is scheduled for commissioning in the fourth quarter of 2024. “With the Tabarjal and Saad projects, JinkoPower shall own 700MW in Saudi Arabia. The achievement of financial close for the Saad project and signing of the PPA for the Tabarjal project shall cement our foundations in the country and allow for many further successes,” concluded Mothana Qteishat, Vice President of International Business at JinkoPower.
