Al-Urubah Park in Saudi Arabia is now under construction, according to the Royal Commission for Riyadh City. Occupying 754,000m2, it is a component of the larger Green Riyadh initiative and will be situated at the intersection of Al Urubah Road and Prince Turki Bin Abdulaziz Al-Awwal Road. The park’s recreational areas are intended to improve both locals’ and tourists’ quality of life.
Six international entries were received in a global tender, from which the design was chosen, with the selected plan including an elevated 12-meter, 3km panoramic walk. It offers an interactive experience with augmented reality features by fusing contemporary technology with natural components. The Al Laysan Valley pass and permanent water features are part of the project’s initial design.
The park’s amenities will cater to a range of age groups and include a 14km walking track
The park’s amenities will cater to a range of age groups and include a 14km walking track, green terraces, open areas, and event and sports venues. Furthermore, the park will have over 600,000 shrubs and trees planted, covering almost 65% of its overall area.
The broader Green Riyadh program aspires to plant trees across residential neighborhoods, develop parks, streets, and pedestrian pathways, and enhance public buildings and irrigation networks, as well as lowering urban temperatures, improving air quality, and elevating Riyadh’s status as one of the world’s most liveable cities.
